I wasn’t sure what to expect going into this。 I picked it up on a whim， but I was absolutely blown away。 This was such a cozy and comforting read。 A found family， coffee， and fantasy in a way I’d never read before。 Even for non-fantasy readers， I would highly recommend。

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it， click here。 Uff。 I want to love this book so bad， but i just don't。 The dnd-like world is great， the characters are really cool and the idea of the coffee shop in a fantasy world is awesome！ And yet， as I read it， I got less and less interested in continuing。 In my opinion， there is no tension and the individual chapters seem like levels of these mobile games in which you renovate a house and upgrade the machines in order to be able to sell new stuff。 Like， now they upgraded the oven， now they can bake th Uff。 I want to love this book so bad， but i just don't。 The dnd-like world is great， the characters are really cool and the idea of the coffee shop in a fantasy world is awesome！ And yet， as I read it， I got less and less interested in continuing。 In my opinion， there is no tension and the individual chapters seem like levels of these mobile games in which you renovate a house and upgrade the machines in order to be able to sell new stuff。 Like， now they upgraded the oven， now they can bake this。 In the next chapter they upgrade something else and now they can write another thing on your menu etc。 Any dangers that arise are immediately dealt with and gone far too easily， after which it's back to leveling up the shop。 The cozy atmosphere is perfectly done， the love story is super cute and doesn't take up too much space。 But I think this space is unfortunately not occupied by anything else either。。。 。。。more

This book is like a warm hug for fans of D&D。 Super cute story about an orc who is growing older and wants to retire from the adventuring business to open a gnomish coffee shop。 It is a delight from start to finish， with a charming cast of characters and some insight into being true to yourself and your own dreams。 Highly recommend for anyone looking for something a little lighter， and focused on the ordinary folk in a high fantasy setting。

I know its a nightmare corporation-owned hellscape I live in when owning a successful small business is as fantastical as Orcs and magic。I’m more appreciative that this book and books like it exists than I enjoyed the act of reading it。 Legends & Lattes accomplishes what it wants to do， but unfortunately what it wants to do is just a little boring to me。Its a bit outside my comfort zone of dark and weird fiction， and when I read fantasy I don’t normally read this type of D&D style of it， but I c I know its a nightmare corporation-owned hellscape I live in when owning a successful small business is as fantastical as Orcs and magic。I’m more appreciative that this book and books like it exists than I enjoyed the act of reading it。 Legends & Lattes accomplishes what it wants to do， but unfortunately what it wants to do is just a little boring to me。Its a bit outside my comfort zone of dark and weird fiction， and when I read fantasy I don’t normally read this type of D&D style of it， but I chose to read it because my fiancée is a manager at a local coffee shop and it reminds me of her （although upon telling her about this book she said it sounded kind of cringey， that’s my gal）， and I of course like to challenge myself to read things I normally wouldn’t。This whole genre of ‘comfy fantasy’ that this has introduced me to is fascinating。 Stories that act as the idle mobile phone games for books; stress free， low stakes， feel good， and wholesome。 If you’re in a state of depression or feel like you’re about to emotionally fall apart， this might be something safe for you to read。 However， low stakes and stress free stories means nothing to get hooked by。 I definitely wasn’t engaged in a majority of the chapters。 I can only read so many pages of the characters inventing pastries and types of coffee that exists in our world but not theirs before I start to get bored。Maybe I just wasn’t in the right mood， but more likely just isn’t my cup of tea。 But， again， I’m in no way saying I didn’t like it。 Its what it intends to be， and you can see the skill involved in accomplishing that。 。。。more
